National Centre for Laser Applications (Ireland)
The National Centre for Laser Applications (NCLA) at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway) is the academic partner in the project. The mission of the NCLA is to create a sustainable culture of innovation and research in laser technology in Ireland by developing world class facilities and expertise in laser processing and optical characterisation. It engages in fundamental and applied research and assists in the transfer of laser technology to manufacturing industries in Ireland. The NCLA laboratories are well-equipped with advanced laser and optical instrumentation, and is a member of the Integrated Nanoscience Platform for Ireland (Inspire). The NCLA will use Laser-Connect to inform its research and educational activities on laser–material–ambient interactions by addressing the many industrial challenges proposed for laser ablation in thin film electronics.
